COPPA is the Childrens' Online Privacy Protection Act. This U.S. regulation requires us to have parent/guardian permission for anyone under the age of 13 who creates a WolfQuest game account and wishes to have the Online Features (multiplayer, in-game friends, in-game messages) enabled. If the parent provides consent, then we will unlock those Online Features -- but players under age 13 will be restricted to No Chat across all public multiplayer gameplay modes to ensure their safety. They can choose Text Chat in games with friends.
Many other countries have similar laws (some with higher age restrictions!) so we require parental consent no matter what country you live in.
